The Hingham Historical Society was founded in 1914 to preserve the history and heritage of Hingham, Massachusetts. The historical society preserves and maintains the Old Ordinary, a 1686 house museum, the 1818 Hingham Heritage Museum, and the Benjamin Lincoln House, home to George Washington's major general, Benjamin Lincoln, and 12 generations of the Lincoln family.2 The society seeks to "collect, preserve, and promote Hingham's historic heritage."2
